We saw a huge response last year in the number of dresses we collected, so that’s how we knew we could expand.”Volunteer Kelli Smith said the dress giveaway gives these students the opportunity to have the same kind of prom as other high school students in the community.“At last year’s giveaway, the smiles on their faces, they just lit up like Christmas trees,” Smith said. “And for them to be able to go to prom and have that really nice prom dress, it’s like a little fairy tale dream come true for them.”Busada said they want to make sure that dresses are available in all sizes.“We have to raise the money so we can cover size 0 to 30-something, so that every size is available for these girls that come,” she said. “We don’t want any girl to be discouraged not to come because they don’t think we have a dress for them.”Smith encourages anyone with dresses that are no longer being worn to donate them to the Cinderella Project.“There are so many people who have a closet full of dresses that don’t know what to do with them,” she said.
